As part of Elan’s 2022 Across the Country Charitable Giving program, Evergreen Heritage Center (Evergreen) received a $12,500 donation on behalf of WEPCO Federal Credit Union. The Maryland-based non-profit serves over 10,000 patrons annually with learning opportunities on their 130-acre farm and forest.

The donation will support Evergreen’s general fund which provides four core programs for K-12 and college students.

• STEM Enrichment: Hands-on, award-winning classes that impact over 3,000 K-12 students and consistently increase student STEM literacy by 25 to 50%.
• Elementary Edibles: An impactful in-school program for 3,500 K-5 students to learn how to plant, grow, and taste their own vegetables.
• Environment Arts: 1,800 students in grades 3–5 enjoy workshops and summer camps to increase their art skills and appreciation.
• Higher Education and Research: Real world experience for 200+ college students to gain experience on Evergreen through science, art, and business projects.

“The donation [from WEPCO FCU and Elan] will subsidize our operating costs, which span several of these impactful programs, enabling us to continue our mission of ‘Learning by Doing’,” said Janice Keene, President, Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation.
