When organizations unite around a shared purpose, they can create a lasting impact on the lives of others. Recently, leaders and employees from Elan, Tremont Credit Union, and members of the Cooperative Credit Union Association including Alpha Credit Union, Mass Bay Credit Union, St. Jean’s Credit Union, BrightBridge Credit Union, SCU Credit Union, HTM Credit Union, and Arise Financial, came together for a meaningful day of service dedicated to helping children in need. Their goal was both simple and profound: to build beds for children who currently do not have a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

On behalf of Tremont Credit Union, Elan Credit Card donated $20,000 to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless in support of its “A Bed for Every Child” program, helping provide 57 beds for children in need. Dozens of volunteers rolled up their sleeves to cut, assemble, sand, and finish the beds, which will soon offer local children and families greater comfort, security, and stability.

“This event showcased the credit union movement at its best,” said George Hardiman, CEO of Tremont Credit Union. “Although each organization serves its own members, we were united by a shared commitment to improving lives and strengthening our communities. The energy throughout the day reflected the cooperation, compassion, and spirit of service that define our industry.”

“It was inspiring to see so many organizations work side by side to create a meaningful impact for children in our community,” said Byron Smith, a member of the Elan Credit Card team who volunteered at the event.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the dedication of the volunteers who generously gave their time. Together, these organizations demonstrated that when people unite in service, small acts can create lasting impact. Thanks to their efforts, 57 children will have a safe place to sleep, proving that a single day of volunteerism can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.

This event also marked a significant milestone for the Elan Charitable Giving Program, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. To honor the occasion, Elan has hosted five volunteer events across the country in partnership with financial institutions and nonprofit organizations selected by its partners.

The Tremont Credit Union bed build served as the final event in this special anniversary series, bringing together the credit union community to create lasting change for children in need.
